Bats and Mountaineers’ Saturday Night Matchup Postponed; Make-Up Tuesday
Keene Trying to Hold On to Grab Playoff Spot with Nine Games Left
KEENE, N.H. – The Keene SwampBats and Vermont Mountaineers NECBL contest on Saturday night at Alumni Field has been postponed due to the expected rain and thunderstorms sweeping through New England over the course of the day.
The game has been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 21, with first pitch at 6:35 p.m. All entertainment, including the Savings Bank of Walpole activities, has been moved to Saturday, July 25.
Keene (17-17-1), which has lost nine of 11 including being swept by Vermont in a doubleheader on the road last week, still holds a playoff spot with nine games to go in the regular season despite tumbling down the league standings. The Bats will play two road games before returning home Tuesday, visiting Upper Valley on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. and Martha's Vineyard on Monday at 7:05 p.m. Keene will now take on Vermont (14-21) in three consecutive games in a scheduling oddity this week, hosting the Mountaineers Tuesday and Friday while visiting Montpelier on Wednesday. The Bats will also finish a suspended game in which they trail 3-0 in the fourth at Bristol on Thursday, July 23.
The SwampBats are currently the No. 6 seed in the playoff picture, leading ninth-place Danbury by a game and a half with North Shore sitting at 17-17 in seventh and Bristol (16-18) in eighth.
